The lunch that named the shop

Bill Clinton stopped for pho during his Vietnam visit. The shop took that year as its name — Pho 2000 — and became a must-visit for every District 1 traveler.

A small museum in the dining room

The White House apron hangs framed with honor, surrounded by visit photos, press clippings, and certificates. Eating here is eating inside a page of Saigon's food history.

Silver anniversary, old-street murals

The anniversary dining room repaints old Saigon — Dong Khoi Street, the clock tower, cyclos — a reminder that this bowl has walked with the city for a quarter century.

Eating here is eating inside a page of history — yet the bowl arrives just as steaming as at any other great Saigon pho shop.Notes from the dining room · rush hour
