story

The rhythm of a teahouse

No founding myth needed — the room tells its own story in wood, mural and lanterns.

Hua Wu Lau is a Cantonese-style dim sum room on Bui Thi Xuan street — dark wood wainscoting, wood tables and chairs, and a panorama of an old Chinese water town covering the main wall.

Red paper lanterns hang under the golden lattice light; mornings fill with dim sum regulars, evenings turn to family dinner.

The shop keeps two dayparts daily — 08:00–14:00 for morning tea, 17:00–22:00 for dinner — the old Cantonese teahouse rhythm: dim sum by morning, gathering by night.

What sets it apart

  • Water-town mural — gilt panorama covering the wood wall — no other room nearby has it
  • Wood-panelled room — walls, tables, chairs all dark wood — warm in the old sense
  • Red lanterns — strung under the golden lattice light — glowing morning to night
  • Bamboo steamers — everything served in green-rimmed bamboo steamers — proper dim sum
  • Two dayparts daily — 08:00–14:00 morning tea, 17:00–22:00 dinner — the old teahouse rhythm
