From a bun cart in Londonto 106 Hai Ba Trung

Baozi's story started at Camden Market in London — then came home to Saigon in 2014, bringing Chinese-style buns with it.

It started when Chris Huynh sold Chinese-style buns from a small cart at London's Camden Market. The buns were such a hit that he decided to bring the whole concept back to Vietnam.

In 2014, Baozi opened in Saigon — one of the city's first bao restaurants. The menu is a fusion: Cantonese, Taiwanese, and street snacks reworked with a modern touch.

The room at 106 Hai Ba Trung keeps that spirit: teal brick walls, red neon, gold-character couplets — a loud, warm Chinese canteen where the steamer baskets never stop.

“The famous bao buns — savory and sweet editions — prepared with care; one or two will fill you up.”
