our story

Our story — Things Café

“A home I always find my way back to” — not a café.

To reach Things, follow the shop's own directions: up to the 1st floor, turn left, walk straight through the Hoàng Thị shop and turn left again into a narrow passage — past the yellow door inside Hoàng Thị. The building faces the State Bank, an art-deco Banque de l'Indochine facade.

The shop's signature is the hand-painted tree mural — a black tree trunk on white plaster, showing up in owner and visitor photos everywhere. “Old and antique”: exposed brick, vinyl records, paper lanterns, bamboo blinds, yellow window frames, a sewing machine, a chess set, cat figurines.

Two black cats (mother and child) live in the shop. No air-conditioning — fans only, many reviews confirm. Seating is limited; book ahead via @things.livingroom. This is the main branch; the second branch is Things Atelier at 210 Co Bac — a different shop.

who it's for
study ✓✓

“Perfect for reading, working, creating and refreshing the soul” — mornings are the golden hour for laptops.

work ✓

Outlets at the seats, but on summer afternoons there are only fans — go early, sit still.

chill ✓✓

Bean bags, cushions, little books — a space oddly, lawfully quiet.

vintage lovers

Exposed brick, vinyl records, a sewing machine, cat figurines — every object a story.

small groups

Small quiet catch-ups work; this is no loud hangout, no photo-shoot spot (the shop once charged for moving seats to shoot).
