The story
The Old Compass is a bright Indochine coffee house by day and a candlelit wine bar by night — a travelers’ clubhouse hidden above the 63/11 Pasteur alley.

No street frontage on Pasteur — just the 63/11 alley with its blue gates and a stairwell up to the travelers’ room. Half the charm is the secrecy.

The eight-point compass rose is everywhere: on the curved bar counter, on the walls, atop the menu. Hand-painted on weathered green plaster — like a stamp from old voyages.

By day: shutters, red drapes, palms, cream-and-terracotta checkerboard. By night: candles, green-patina walls, amber domes, black-and-white travel photos. The same room, two moods.

Bookshelves, vintage posters, old-Saigon imagery — and art and author talks on the program. Expats, couples, laptop workers: everyone finds their own corner.
