KAMPONG.
From village to city — free-range chicken, rice cooked in chicken stock, and three dipping sauces.

Kampong — Hainanese chicken rice in District 1
Kampong opened in 2015 in Hanoi and now runs 12 locations — the shop at 53 Ho Tung Mau is the first in Ho Chi Minh City, right opposite Bitexco. Singaporean-style Hainanese chicken rice with free-range chicken and fresh daily ingredients, in a modern, cozy space.
Chicken rice plates worth the trip.
Three plates from the shop's own photos — the crispy shrimp & dragon fruit salad, the full chicken rice set, and the BBQ pork plate with chicken.

Shrimp & dragon fruit salad
Crispy fried shrimp over cool dragon fruit, finished with fish roe — the shop's most-photographed starter.

The chicken rice set
Tender boiled free-range chicken, fragrant rice cooked in chicken stock, with soup and the trio of ginger — chili — soy dipping sauces.

BBQ pork & chicken plate
Glazed BBQ pork with chicken on the side — for a fuller table.
Ginger, chili, soy — the soul of the plate.
Kampong is meticulous at every step: ingredients, rice cooking, chicken boiling — and the essential trio of dipping sauces.
Ginger
Freshly pounded ginger — warm and fragrant.
Chili
Ground red chili — a clean, bright heat.
Soy
Rich soy — rounds out every bite of chicken.
Modern, cozy.
Peranakan green tiles underfoot, red-orange lanterns overhead — a bright dining room with neat tables and a view into the kitchen.

A lap around the shop.
