Joy Garden was founded in 2016 as a plant showroom — the drinks café at 187/3 Hai Ba Trung came later. The layout still says it all: straight ahead is the plant shop, turn left for the café.
Nine out of ten guests come to take photos — and the café charges nothing for outdoor shoots. Fall for a pot while you’re shooting, and take it home with you.
A regular’s tip: come before 17:00 — for the best light and to dodge the garden mosquitoes at dusk.

Seven things only Joy Garden has
- Lampshades wrapped in dry tree roots — hanging clusters dressed with root wood; you look up the first time you see them.
- The L-shaped gravel garden — classic-style paths, a dry-branch screen covering the wall.
- The glass rain roof — sit in the garden; rain never sends you running.
- The dark cave of amber light — the interior is dark and dim, lit only by hanging amber lamps: woven rattan shades, wire-frame block lamps.
- The monstera-mural wall — with rattan chairs, vintage sofas, bookshelves and big group tables.
- The in-café plant shop — chibi-painted mini pots, a “BUY 1 GET 1 plant pot” board.
- Free outdoor shoots — nine out of ten guests come to take photos.
