Mangrove Coffee & Tea takes its name from the Cần Giờ biosphere reserve — the mangrove forest at the edge of the city — and its logo is a red-brown serif M drawn as twin mangrove arches, framed by herons and crocodiles and monkeys. A café named after a forest, in a city that's mostly concrete. I liked it before I walked in. The wildlife drawings alone are worth the visit.
The space at 29A Cao Thắng is industrial: black exposed ceiling with red pipes, wire-mesh-framed brick walls, track spots, black tables with caramel leather chairs. Floor-to-ceiling glass floods it with daylight; outside the panes runs a black steel staircase. One wall carries a 3D leaf-pattern relief — the forest, abstracted, in the machine. The brown-black shell is the strongest motif in the building: mesh, beam, and shadow, repeated everywhere.
The signature drinks are two teas, and the colors tell the story: Trà chanh Mangrove in unmistakable leaf-green beside a sunset-orange trà cam, orange wheels and mint on terrazzo against lush planting. Green and orange. The forest and the sun. There's also Trà Kim Quất Xí Muội and a Thai-green-tea Trà Sữa Mangrove. The names carry no invented prices — the official promos run 45k/49k, labeled as promos, honestly.
What sets it apart, quietly: this is a workshop house. Flower-arranging classes mid-session when I visited, painting workshops with easels, candle-making, product launches, skill classes. A 55-inch TV, whiteboard, flexible layout — and the venue is free for groups of fifteen or more. The teabreak service is real: tiered stands of su kem and sausage rolls, watermelon and guava platters, a glass dispenser of mint-lime water. Not a generic "catering available" line — an actual spread, photographed and served.
Prices are gentle — the menu starts at 29k. Open 7 AM to 10:30 PM. The Bàn Cờ office crowd has claimed it for study sessions; TikTok calls it a study café, and the wifi and outlets back that up. Three floors, flexible, green everywhere despite the steel.
A forest-named café in an industrial shell, hosting watercolor workshops under red pipes. <Quote>
The contradiction holds. Some places are one thing; the good ones are two.

The mangrove survives in salt water by being adaptable. This place survives the city the same way.
