The sign is a bee. A round white sign, hand-drawn bee, on the wall of a white villa in a Tú Xương alley. "B." is for bee. This is the entire naming story, and it's better than most branding decks I've seen — <Quote>

one insect, one letter, total confidence.

B.Story is a two-storey white villa that behaves like a small European museum that happens to serve sinh tố bơ. The facade is full-glass doors glowing warm from inside, white balcony railing above, "B.STORY Cafe · workshop" in the lettering. By day it's sunlit white; by night it's a lantern. The day-to-night transition is the whole rhythm of the place, and the architecture handles it without a single gimmick.

Upstairs is where it gets strange, and I mean that as the highest compliment. A little museum of European-style bust statues and wall mirrors in an old house. Reviewers call it "lạnh lạnh rợn rợn" — spooky-cool. The busts multiply in the mirrors; the mirrors multiply the white rooms. It's a gallery wing with no placards, and it works precisely because nobody explains it. As someone who reads buildings for a living, I can tell you: <Quote>

the decision to leave the bust room unexplained is the smartest curatorial choice in the building.

The patio out back — or the lane, really — is strung with fairy lights after dark. White walls, warm dots of light, no neon anywhere. The arrival sequence is alley to garden stair to villa door, potted plants crowding the entrance, a planted stair climbing beside the building. The walk in is already green. The leaf-green accent keeps the white from feeling sterile, which is harder than it looks.

I ordered the signature: sinh tố bơ with dried-coconut topping, served in a double-wall glass cup. A reviewer praised the insulation; I praise the coconut flakes and the restraint on sweetness — the avocado actually tastes like avocado. This is the thing to order. The pastries, per reviews, are dry and overpriced — skip them. The drinks run ~75k, which reviewers call "đắt," and they're not wrong, but you're paying for the villa, the mirrors, and the bee.

The top floor is the "workshop" of the sign's promise — it actually hosts workshops and small events, which is rare. Most cafés put "workshop" on the sign as decoration. Here it's a room.

Proportions: the rooms are human-scaled, the mirrors do the spatial work of doubling the white, and the bust room is the strangest, most ownable space in any café I've reviewed this year. Free parking across the street with a receipt. Open since ~2020, quieter now than the new hotspots — which is a feature, not a bug. The best time is mid-morning for photos, evening for the lit lane. Two visits, two different buildings. Same bee.
