An Yên's own line says it best: "thả trôi sự muộn phiền theo gió — giữ lại cho mình sự thảnh thơi." Let your worries drift away with the wind; keep the calm for yourself. I walked into the garden on Hòa Hưng alley and understood it within a minute.
The signature fixture is the mist. Fine mist sprayers cool the open-air garden room — tables set among layered greenery, dappled light, the air itself softened. <Quote>
It's a green lung down a District 10 alley, and on a hot Saigon afternoon, the mist is not decoration. It's mercy.
</Quote> The venue's own description leads with it, and rightly so — the garden is the arrival moment.
But the backbone here is tea. Twelve teas deep: trà vải, trà dâu, trà đào cam sả, trà gừng mật ong, and the signature "Món trà tuổi thơ" — a childhood-tea nostalgia play that works because it's honest, not manufactured. The serves come styled on wooden trays with fruit and flower garnish — calamansi, mint, fresh fruit in tall glassware. This is the richest visual material in the building, and it deserves the attention. Then there's a ten-deep sữa chua program on top of that: đánh đá, chanh dây, hạt đác, trân châu đường đen. A serious second program.
What I respect, quietly and completely: the owner's own voice on ingredients. Fresh daily. No non-dairy creamer — no bột béo. In a city of powdered shortcuts, that's a principle stated plainly and kept. I won't preach about it. I'll just note it, and let the absence of powder speak.
It's a place built for everyone: a kids' play area, a quiet reading room, rentable private cold rooms for study groups and small meetups, a pet-friendly zone, and — rare for an alley café — a wide car park that's explicitly part of the pitch. Breakfast runs from 6 AM: bún mọc sườn, bò kho, bún giả cầy, mì trứng. A café that feeds you, not just waters you.
They close at 10 PM; this is a daylight-to-dusk place, and the light is the point. Morning light through the canopy, midday shade under the mist, evening garden glow. I stayed through the afternoon, when the mist was at its finest and the garden went amber.
Calm, it turns out, is a practice. This is a good place to practice. </Quote> Let the wind have the worries. Keep the calm. <Callout title="Good to know"> An Yên Cafe & Tea, 91/11 Hòa Hưng, District 10. Open 6:00–22:00 daily. </Callout>
