The green copper of Bàn Cờ

Y Coffee Roastery is a small women-owned roastery tucked on Võ Văn Tần street in Bàn Cờ. Step inside and you're met by the copper vertical-slat bar front — warm metal catching the glow of hanging amber globes.

Distressed moss-green walls rise to a black exposed-beam ceiling, the hammered-gold espresso machine sits proud at the bar, and behind it all stands the black roaster — where the shop's beans come to life.

Red spindle-back stools, plaid armchairs, a breeze-block partition and a plant-filled terrace — every corner a swatch of old and new Saigon.
