The name Benaras
The Indian House takes its name from Benaras — the old name of Varanasi, the sacred city on the Ganges — and the house's own benaras.club carries the same name. Everything else, we tell only from real photos.

Named for the old city
Benaras is the old name of Varanasi — the city on the Ganges with its stone riverfront ghats. The name sets the house's palette: deep river indigo and diya-flame gold.

The dining room glows under rows of brass chandeliers, a living green wall cooling the gold, and vermillion chairs lined up like lit diyas.
