From dusk down to the embers
One evening at the Tôn Thất Tùng branch — told through three real frames of the venue.
The terrace lights up — the neon sign switches on
White glowing letters — 맛찬들 3.5 왕소금구이 / MATCHANDEUL 3.5 BBQ — on dark steel, Edison bulb strings overhead, Korean-style paper lanterns — and a church steeple behind the tree line. This is the frame the evening opens on.
Down into the grill hall — a grill at every table
A warm barrel-vaulted wood ceiling, rows of light-wood tables with built-in grills, dividers printed with “마음이 맛있다”, blue-shirted staff tending the coals and the banchan. The sky outside shifts from dusk blue to amber.
On the grill — thick-cut cubes
No thin slices: the pork hits the grill as thick cubes, searing over the embers alongside corn, tteok rice cakes, mushrooms and garlic chives — a steel cup steaming at the center of the grill. Staff turn the meat; guests just sit back.
Staff grill at the table — this is the service model the Matchandeul brand announces: guests keep talking while the meat is turned and cut on the grill.
Matchandeul is a Korean BBQ chain; every photo and description on this page belongs to the 6-8 Tôn Thất Tùng, Bến Thành, District 1 branch.
