our story
make room opened around mid-2024 inside an old apartment block near Calmette bridge — the name is both an invitation and a promise: there is always room for you here.
Walk off Calmette street into the old apartment alley — the green glass doors and the small red sign tell you you've arrived. The tiny facade always has someone stopping for a photo.
Yellow paper lanterns, warm wall sconces, golden walls — the whole shop glows soft yellow, day and night. It's the kind of light that makes people stay.
A mid-century wooden console with a turntable, Frank Sinatra and Amy Winehouse sleeves, a red star lamp, a pyramid lamp — the music lovers' corner, and the music here is always good.
Above sits the mezzanine with its iron railing and exposed wooden beams — a few quiet seats looking down at the lively ground floor. Two floors, two rhythms, one small shop.
In Jan 2026 the hand-written “please, no flash” sign at the counter unexpectedly made the news — and the regulars answered with a wave of 5-star reviews to protect this quiet space. The sign is still at the counter today.
