The 80m² house some friends opened
Opened summer 2021, self-designed, books contributed by friends — and it survived the lockdown.
“Mai cà phê nhé!” — the hand-lettered invitation on the wall.
Mai Cà Phê opened in summer 2021 — a group of friends rented an ~80m² house in the 82/38 Thanh Thai alley, District 10, and designed every corner themselves. No investors, no fanfare — just a place friends wanted to linger.
The ladder bookshelf is the soul of the café: books and comics contributed by friends and regulars — “the books from Truc and Duy, the comic sets from Quan”, as the owner told ador.vn. Read here or borrow one home — just ask.
Around the shelf: the photo-collage wall of customer memories, the hand-lettered “mai cà phê nhé!”, the brown iron gate with oval motifs, rattan chairs in the courtyard, the open bar with its handwritten-price pastry case — and two resident cats, appearing only as a sweet surprise.

The bookshelf is the café's signature
- The contributed bookshelfBooks and comics donated by friends and regulars — read here, borrow home with a word.
- Cold Brew Đá MeThe signature: Arabica cold brew + special tamarind sauce + roasted peanuts — modern cold brew meets childhood tamarind ice.
- “mai cà phê nhé!”The hand-lettered invitation on the white wall — the café's voice, and its affectionate nickname.
- The courtyard in the quiet alleyThe brown oval-motif iron gate, rattan chairs, wind chime, hanging-plant rack — a green oasis in District 10.
