A pocket of lane-side calm
A study café tucked into the old Cư xá Bắc Hải — bamboo, wood, handwriting, and sticker-hidden secret drinks.
Slow living in a quiet apartment quarter.
Hiên sits at LL5 Ba Vi Street, deep inside Cư xá Bắc Hải — where the old apartment blocks still keep Saigon’s slow rhythm. A handwritten wooden sign hangs by the door, old mossy roof tiles, white plaster walls and green plants: the venue doesn’t show off, it just quietly opens its doors to whoever needs a calm corner.
Inside is a rustic bamboo-and-wood world: exposed ceiling beams, low wooden stools, a guitar on the wall and a bookshelf behind the iron lattice — the familiar study corner for neighbourhood students. On the counter sits the handwritten menu board from April 2025, a few items still wearing name-hiding stickers: the venue keeps the secret to the end; curious guests have to come peel a sticker and order.
Nutty roasted-rice tea and bright lemongrass-lime tea are the house’s two signature teas; the rooftop floor opens for group evenings under string lights. And if you hear a cat meow — yes, the venue keeps cats.
