An ancient capital in the middle of Saigon
On shaded Tu Xuong street, Dabao Concept - Cố Đô rebuilds a corner of the old Huế imperial city — tiled roofs, gravel, lanterns, and a ceiling painted with clouds.
The café sits on the grounds of an old Saigon villa: about 800 m² with roughly 300 seats. Three main spaces — the garden courtyard, the front house and the back house — are joined by a small flower garden, each corner with its own rhythm.
What everyone remembers about Dabao is the cloud-painted ceiling of the front house: a pale-blue ground, swirling multicolored clouds and a red sun — look up and you see a whole sky. Below it: encaustic tiles, carved wooden doors and a white lotus in a celadon vase on a dark wooden table.
As evening falls, amber paper lanterns light up the dark wooden corners; the red gravel courtyard, laid with stepping stones, leads out to the flower garden, the old lime walls mottled with sun. Solemn, slow and poetic — nothing like the rush of the streets outside.
