A Rooftop That Wakes Up as a Café and Falls Asleep as a Bar

On the Upper Floor sits at 540/19 Cách Mạng Tháng Tám, and it's two completely different places depending on when you show up. I've been for both. Let me tell you about the night one, because that's where the story is — but you need the day one to understand it.

By day: a rustic-elegant garden rooftop. Heritage stilt-house bones, patterned cement tiles, weathered wood, a lotus pond walkway with dappled light. Brunch is real here — pastries at 30–65K, hand-labeled, coffee 50–70K. Families, laptops, sunlight. Lovely. Fine.

By night: the transformation. Lanterns come on. Pergolas glow.

Candles appear on every table — the unit of coziness here is one small oil lamp per party, and I mean that as the highest compliment.

The backlit bottle wall behind the bar lights up like a temple to drinking. Long communal plank tables fill with groups. The skyline comes out.

The drinks menu is gold lettering on burgundy — "DRINKS ME and U" — and the cocktail program is taken seriously, not as an afterthought. 119K to 230K per cocktail, which is fair for what you get: proper builds, garden setting, the whole rooftop as your bar. The night food menu centers on BBQ — skewers, pork belly, 180K to 490K — char and shallots and chili-lime, eaten under string lights with an oil lamp flickering. That's a combination I'll defend against any cocktail bar in D1.

Here's what I appreciate: most rooftop bars in Saigon are just... high places to drink.

This one has a day identity and a night identity, and the transition between them — that golden-hour melt from brunch to cocktails — is the actual experience.

Come at 17:30. Watch it happen.

The crowd is groups, dates, celebrations. It's not a solo-bar-stool place; it's a long-table place. The ritual here is the shared table, the shared grill, the second round that nobody planned. That's drinking as culture, and this roof understands it.

Open 07:30–23:30 daily. Come for the sunset, stay for the cocktails. The night menu is the one that matters.
