I did the research so you don't have to, and here's the headline: Lacàph has 8,267 perfect scores from reviewers, and the number-one thing they mention — 1,629 times — is the workshop. <Quote>
This is not a café that happens to run classes. This is a coffee school that happens to serve drinks.

220 Nguyễn Công Trứ, Bến Thành. Gold Art-Deco LACÀPH letters on a copper-brown facade. Inside: a wooden U-shaped bar under black track lighting, built for tasting sessions, not just transactions. Exposed brick, brass, the grinder and espresso machine on display. And on the wall, the roasting process spelled out in five stages: DRYING / YELLOWING / FIRST CRACK / DEVELOPMENT / SECOND CRACK. They don't just serve you coffee here. They teach you what happened to it.
The workshop table is the identity in one frame: brass phins engraved LACÀPH on wooden trays, frothers and kettles ready, a screen reading "FUN & EASY VIETNAMESE COFFEE WORKSHOP." Klook lists the workshop from $21, and reviewers describe it the way people describe good teachers — patient, clear, fun. If you're visiting Saigon and you do one coffee thing, make it this.
But don't skip the drinks. The menu boards (owner-posted, August 2026 — I checked the dates) list exact VND prices: egg coffee 110k (marked Bán Chạy, bestseller), salted coffee 90k. The LŨY specialty line — Arabica Catimor and Robusta Sẻ from Sơn La, Gia Lai, Lâm Đồng — carries Great Taste and Golden Bean awards. There's even a Phở Fizz at 250k, which I have not tried and am professionally curious about.
The award badges matter here, because they answer the question the price ladder raises. Egg coffee at 110k is not cheap by Saigon standards. But the LŨY line gives the premium tier a reason to exist — these are competition-grade lots, and the Great Taste badge is the kind of third-party validation that justifies the climb from the 90k salted coffee to the top of the menu. You can taste the difference, or you can take the workshop and learn to taste it. Either way the ladder makes sense.
Practical notes. Hours: 7:30–19:30 daily — this is a daytime place, don't plan an evening visit. The pastry case does honeycomb cake, banana cake, flan at 60k, Vietnamese desserts that pair with the slower brews. The palm sugar honeycomb cake is the one reviewers photograph.
The room's palette is dark and warm — brass gold, dark facade, exposed brick, dark wood — with warm track lighting that makes every layered espresso look like a product shot. It photographs beautifully, but the real product is knowledge. You'll leave knowing how a phin works, what first crack means, and why Vietnamese robusta deserves more respect than it gets.
Book the workshop ahead. Order the egg coffee after. Thank me later </Quote> — and when the brass phin finally makes sense in your hands, you'll understand why 1,629 reviewers mentioned the class before they mentioned the drinks. <Callout title="Good to know"> Lacàph Coffee Experiences Space · 220 Nguyễn Công Trứ, Bến Thành, District 1 · 7:30–19:30 daily </Callout>
