The first thing I touched at In'Joy wasn't a pastry. It was a jar.
Glass cookie jars on light-wood shelves, white subway tile behind them, each one sealed with a round black IN'JOY sticker and a rose-pink dot that says GLUTEN FREE. Coconut Cookie, 40k. The tag lists the ingredients: rice flour, tapioca starch, corn starch. I unscrewed the lid and the smell — coconut, butter, warmth — hit me before I'd even tasted anything. <Quote>
This is a bakery that understands packaging as promise.

In'Joy Café & Bake sits on tree-lined Trương Định in District 3, and it is 100% gluten-free — one of the rare celiac-safe bakeries in Saigon. The round white blade sign outside says IN'JOY CAFÉ & BAKE over a rectangular GLUTEN-FREE placard, hanging over a striped awning. Inside: warm wood, the famous bake case with little wooden-block price tags on everything. Donut 40K. Croque Monsieur 45K. Ham & Cheese 45K. Prices you can read without squinting, attached to everything. I love this.
I ordered the chocolate mini-cake on the stamped IN'JOY plate and an oat-milk latte. The cake — dense, dark, the chocolate doing that slow melt across the tongue — and here's the thing about good gluten-free baking: when it's done right, you don't think about what's missing. You think about the crumb. The moisture. The way the frosting holds. In'Joy does it right.
Then the savory kitchen, which runs 10:00 to 15:30 (closed Wednesdays — I learned this the hard way on a Wednesday, arrived at four to find only cakes and drinks, which honestly wasn't a tragedy). Bánh mì, pizza, fried chicken, sweet and savory waffles at 50k. The Croque Monsieur at 45k is the sleeper hit — crispy, rich, gone in four bites.
But the thing that made me stay: the kids' play corner. A wooden climbing wall with red holds, a rainbow glass-block window — a real play area, not a token toy box, in a café. Families come here because someone actually thought about them. One of four zones in the shop, and the one no competitor has.
The custom cake program is the emotional core — birthday and anniversary cakes to order, and a 2026 Mid-Autumn collection (Taro Mochi, salted-egg everything) that sold me on coming back in September. The Choco Strawberry Creamcake in their official posts is the showpiece: glossy, precise, the strawberries arranged like they were placed by someone who cares about symmetry. Which they were.
One more practical note from someone who reads the fine print: the savory kitchen runs 10:00–15:30 and rests on Wednesdays. After that it's cakes and drinks only. I learned this arriving at 4pm on a Wednesday, and I want to be clear — the disappointment lasted exactly until I tasted the tiramisu. Plan the savory lunch, or don't, but plan around the Wednesday.
Everything closes at 21:30. Come in the morning, when the skylight keeps the whole room bright and the outdoor tables catch the breeze off Trương Định.
A warm, bright room where the pink dot means everyone can eat. That's rarer than it sounds.
